Once upon a time, as they say, at the very bottom of this ravine, in the thickets, there was a cache of robbers who terrified the entire area. They robbed and killed passing merchants and landowners; however, they did not disdain smaller people, even beggars. And even before, when there were no current villages nearby, they say that entire packs of wolves found refuge in it. Since then, and from exactly when, now no one will say for sure - either from the still vaguely remembered great-grandfathers, or from even earlier, quiet and dark times, this disastrous place was nicknamed Wolf Log. To this day, Nikolsk men, and especially women and children, tried to stay away from him. There were very terrible things, mixed with even more terrible fictions, that enveloped this “sworn tract.”
