Iris Murdoch (1919–1999) is a famous English writer. She was nominated six times for the UK's highest literary prize, the Booker Prize, in 1987 she was awarded the title of Dame of the British Empire, her portrait by Tom Phillips is kept in the National Portrait Gallery of Great Britain. The novel "The Holy and Sinful Love Machine", which received the prestigious Whitbread literary prize, in Russian the language is being translated for the first time.
