The final book of the three-volume series about the Norwegian traveler Thor Heyerdahl was published in Norway in 2013 and begins with his last voyage on the reed boat Tigris in November 1977, and ends with his death in 2002 in Italy. The Tigris, built in Iraq, was supposed to confirm Tour's theory of contacts between Mesopotamia and the Indus civilization. The voyage with an international crew ended in the burning of the ship five months later in Djibouti. In subsequent years, Heyerdahl examined burial mounds in the Maldives, pyramids! Guimar on the island of Tenerife, in Tucum (Peru). His latest project was an excavation in Russian Azov, where he looked for traces of the Old Norse gods Aesir. Thor Heyerdahl was a man surrounded by myths about himself and what he considered scientific myths. They argued with him during his lifetime, and they continue to argue with him now. However, no one objected when in his homeland he was called the most famous Norwegian of the 20th century.
