Half-Latino Art Keller, a drug enforcement agent, grew up in the suburbs of San Diego and saw his friends and family die from weed. While preparing an operation to capture a powerful Mexican drug lord, he makes a forgivable mistake for a newcomer - he recruits police chief Don Miguel Barrera as his assistant. The drug lord is defeated, but Barrera, taking advantage of the resulting power vacuum, creates his own organization, even stronger and more brutal than the one just destroyed. Keller tries to correct his mistake. Thus begins the vendetta.
