“August” is the second book in the trilogy of the great Norwegian writer, Nobel Prize winner K. Hamsun. The main character of the novel, Augustus, is a dreamer and adventurer, so generously gifted by nature that the reprehensibility of his actions often fades into the background. He becomes a kind of folk hero, like G. Ibsen's Peer Gynt.
