Ellery Queen was the pseudonym of two cousins: Frederick Denny (1905–1982) and Manfred Lee (1905–1971). They have written 25 detective stories, which are united by a common hero, detective and author of crime novels, Ellery Queen, whose fame matches that of Sherlock Holmes and Hercule Poirot. The work of the co-author brothers generally falls into the mainstream of the classic detective story, where there are enough intricate logical moves, false leads, and ingenious traps. The novel “The Glassed Village” occupies a special place among detective stories written by Ellery Queen. In fact, this is a psychological novel with a criminal background, which describes the peculiar life of the traditional American outback. The main character here is not a well-known detective, but Johnny, the nephew of Judge Shinn, one of the residents of the village of Shinn Corners. A well-known resident of the village was killed, and a tramp, who unfortunately visited Shinn Corners at that moment, was accused of her death.
