On August 4, 1942, under the command of General Zhukov, the offensive of the troops of the right wing of the Western Front against the German 9th Army began. The goal of the offensive was the liberation, together with the troops of the Kalinin Front, of the cities of Zubtsov and Rzhev, as well as the capture of the most important transport communication of the 9th Army - the Vyazma-Rzhev railway in the area of the settlement of Sychevka. During this offensive operation, the largest oncoming tank battle of 1942 took place of the year. And if the tank battle near Prokhorovka for a long time remained one of the main myths of the 2nd World War, then little is known about the tank battle that unfolded on the banks of the Gzhat and Vazuza rivers in 1942. Moreover, then in the upper reaches of the Volga what happened six months later in the lower reaches of the great Russian river, near Stalingrad, could happen. There were all the prerequisites for this, but due to various factors and reasons this event did not take place. The reader will find out why by reading this book.
