This "New City" - Carthage - became the largest center of civilization on the "dark continent", subjugating not only the North African coast, but also Southern Spain, Sicily, Sardinia and Corsica. But Carthage fell! The author talks in detail about the fate of the country: about the stages of influence of the Roman Empire, Arab rule and the Ottoman Empire on the history of individual regions of Tunisia; about the period when it was part of the French colonial system.
