A mesmerizing tango romance. Commissioner Miguel Fortunato, who recently lost his wife, is preparing to retire after many years of service in the Buenos Aires police. His latest assignment is to help an investigator who came to Argentina from the United States to investigate the circumstances of the kidnapping and murder of a famous American writer. The task, as it turns out, is not easy. Firstly, the investigator turns out to be a very young, inexperienced, but very attractive girl named Athena Fowler. And secondly, Fortunato himself, for certain reasons, is not at all interested in the truth about the murder coming out. However, the investigation must go on, whether he wants it or not. And so, surrounded by a circle of tango dancers, executioners, transnational bankers and former revolutionaries, Athena and Fortunato unearth a crime of such magnitude that they have only one task left - to stay alive.
