Mayerling (1929) is a touching love story between the heir to the Austrian throne, Rudolf Habsburg, and the young Baroness Maria Wetzer. Tired of his august responsibilities and the inability to be with the woman he loved, the prince conceived a double suicide, which the lovers carried out in Mayerling. This beautiful tragic story was filmed twice: in 1935 and in 1968 (starring Catherine Deneuve and Omar Sharif).
