Zeng Pu (1871-1935) was a prominent Chinese novelist, translator, and publisher. The novel Flowers in the Sea of Evil (1905) is a multi-dimensional narrative of “educated” Chinese society in the second half of the 19th century. The author denounces the reactionary order in the country, sets out the ideas of the reformers, and paints scenes of the liberation movement in the countries neighboring China.
