Tiziano Scarpa is not just a real writer, winner of literary awards, but also a hereditary Venetian. For him, the history of the Most Serene Republic is inseparable from his personal memories - children's games in the campiello courtyards, teenage novels, the climax of which took place in door niches and on benches (where else to go in a city where there are no cars?), eateries not listed in any one "normal" guidebook. This book confirms a difficult to explain but reliable rule: when the author knows a hundred times more than he writes, it is clearly felt in the text, no matter how short it may be. It is no coincidence that in eight years “Venice is a Fish” went through thirteen editions in Italy.
