...An advertising video filmed 20 years ago suddenly changes the life of the main character. A man of "principles" is the last boy scout of a sinking economic empire, trying to unravel the mystery of his boss's death and engaging in an unequal battle with the Tokyo mafia. The world of giant corporations on the one hand and the Yakuza on the other are ready to crush him like a bug. However, with each new chapter it turns out that the hero is not only an ordinary advertiser for whom we took him. To understand who he really is, we look through his eyes into the other world and travel to the other side of Death... The plot of the novel takes place in the world of Japanese advertising, which the author knows firsthand. All his life, Iori Fujiwara (b. 1948) has worked as an ordinary clerk in a large advertising company. Haley's meticulousness, Chandler's sad irony, Murakami's mysticism and characters in the spirit of Takeshi Kitano's films brought the author wild popularity among Japanese readers. Fujiwara's novel "The Terrorist's Umbrella" received the Edogawa Rampo Prize "for best work in the detective genre."
