The Rape of Europa is a contemporary intellectual novel set in Western Europe and Russia. The narrative is told from the perspective of a German youth and is a kind of Bildungsroman of today, tracing the development of the hero in the moral, social and intimate spheres. The sharpness of the plot inherent in the novel is not an end in itself, but serves to solve a number of questions posed in it - historical (East and West, America and Europe), ethical (faith and unbelief, the admissibility of wars, manipulation of public consciousness) and aesthetic (the structure of a literary text, fiction and reality).
