“Those Going to Death Greet You” is the second novel after “The Curse of the Plautian Family” from the famous historical cycle by Danilo Comastri Montanari about the Roman senator Publius Aurelius Statius. Publius Aurelius is a convinced epicurean, a admirer of the fair sex and a born detective. Behind him was service in the imperial troops, long journeys, stormy meetings in the Senate. All of Rome gathered in the amphitheater of Statilius Taurus on the Campus Martius - the public was about to see a grandiose spectacle with the participation of the best gladiators of the empire. They were especially looking forward to the appearance of the famous warrior Helidon in the arena. No one doubted that he would become the winner, but when his triumph was already close, Helidon suddenly fell dead.

Його шлях від військової служби до сенаторського крісла наповнений не лише пригодами, але й складними моральними виборами. Сюжет розгортається на фоні грандіозного видовища гладіаторів, що додає напруги та інтриги. Я був вражений, як автор зумів поєднати історичні факти з вигаданими подіями, створивши при цьому реалістичну атмосферу давнього Риму. Рекомендую цю книгу всім, хто цінує якісну історичну прозу з елементами детективу!
