The author's group of the General Staff and the Military Memorial Center of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, now the Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (for perpetuating the memory of those killed in defense of the Fatherland), using previously closed for print archival documents of the General Staff and the main headquarters of the branches of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB, the border troops and other archival institutions of the former USSR, examines the results of operations carried out by Soviet troops during the Great Patriotic War. The authors significantly clarified the total losses of people and military equipment by periods, campaigns of the war, by fronts and fleets, individual armies and military flotillas. The book also provides, for the first time, updated information about the composition of the enemy troops and their losses. In addition, the number of burial sites located in Russia and abroad is shown. This publication is unique and has no analogues in modern military historical literature. The book is published in the author's edition.
