The book by St. Petersburg playwright Katerina Fain includes plays written over the past seven years. All of them were staged, published, and translated into English and Chinese. The artistic palette of these texts is extremely diverse. From everyday, chamber stories (“Except Friday and Sunday”) to symbolism (“Emergency communication with the driver”) and plays with elements of the absurd (“Odile is no longer a swan”). The plays are filled with subtle lyrical intonation, lively speech, witty remarks, and the dynamism of what is happening. They contain a lot of funny situations and bright characters who - very often - are nearby, but do not see each other. The plays are written in excellent Russian, they are modern, ironic, they contain a lot of poetry, philosophy and ready-made directorial ideas.
