In the second volume of the Collected Works of M. V. Popov, a mathematician by training, who in 1971, under the leadership of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Doctor of Economic Sciences I. V. Kotov, successfully defended his thesis “The relationship between qualitative and quantitative analysis in Marxist political economy”, contains the author’s publications on current problems of socialist reproduction using mathematical means. The key work of this volume is written by the author together with another front-line scientist, holder of the Order of Alexander Nevsky, dean of the Faculty of Economics of Leningrad State University N. A. Moiseenko, who is strongly committed to principled the struggle for the development of socialism and the use of its advantages, the book “The Theory of Reproduction and Management of the Socialist Economy,” published in 1976 by the Mysl publishing house, contains well-founded proposals from the co-authors for the development of socialist planning. The materials in this volume also indicate that at that time supporters of the revisionist concept of “market socialism” were active in political economy, and in this book, as in other publications of the co-authors, they were subjected to impartial criticism as destroyers of the socialist economic system. Of interest in this regard are the positive assessments by the co-authors of works that develop Lenin’s ideas and contribute to the defense of the gains of socialism.
