The novel by Juanot Marturel and Marty Juan de Galba, which tells about the life of the noble Tyrant the White, full of adventures and exploits, is one of the largest monuments of world literature. Dignified by M. de Cervantes as a “treasury of pleasures,” it represents a major milestone on the path from the medieval chivalric romance to the modern novel. The variety of characters and plot lines, a skillful combination of serious and comic, as well as genre and stylistic polyphony make this work fascinating for the modern reader. Standing on a par with such masterpieces as “Le Morte d’Arthur” and “Don Quixote”, “Tyrant the White” for the first time in its more than half a thousand-year history, it has been translated into Russian.
