Moises Naim is a world-famous Venezuelan journalist and political scientist, holder of the orders of France, Italy, Argentina and Venezuela. For many years he headed Foreign Policy magazine, and before entering journalism, he was minister of trade and industry, director of the Central Bank of Venezuela and executive director of the World Bank. Naim’s work “The End of Power” was recognized in the United States as the best book of 2013 (according to the Financial Times and The Washington Post). “Two Spies in Caracas” is his first novel, and it is written in the genre of spy thriller, but the mostly fictional characters and exciting plot helped the author create a vivid and convincing picture of reality, the authenticity of which is difficult to doubt. This is the story of the reign of Hugo Chavez, who dreamed of eternal power. He even made amendments to the Constitution for this purpose, but fate disposed of his life in its own way. Now everyone knows what a disaster the attempts to build “socialism of the 21st century” turned out to be for Venezuela.
