Continuation of the "Hunger Games" series. Katniss and Peeta, having returned from the Hunger Games, are not forgotten by the Capitol, which has prepared for them new, even more terrible trials than before. The districts are engulfed in unrest that threatens to develop into an uprising. The spark-initiator was Flaming Katniss. Will Katniss, Peeta and Gale survive? This is my translation of the second book in the Hunger Games series. I called it "Birth of Fire". In the official translation, which does not yet exist, the book may be called differently, most likely “Inflammation.” I simply don’t like this name: it reminds me of an old physics teacher at school, talking about all sorts of physical processes. And somehow it doesn’t fit on the tongue. There are some other differences. I am keeping the heroine's real name - Katniss, because the whole world now knows her by this name. Pete's real name is Pita (not Pete), that is, in English it is Peter. That's what I call him from time to time, mostly keeping the name Pete. By the way, apparently, the official translator of The Hunger Games, A. Shipulin, also had the intention of calling this character that way: in the middle of the third chapter of The Hunger Games, the editor did not notice - it says “Peter is already waiting for us at the table.” Other names and titles are either left as in A. Shipulin’s translation or slightly changed. So, I really wanted to change the unpronounceable “district” into the native and understandable “district”, but I realized that in the modern United States the so-called “county” is translated into Russian as “district”, and this can give not entirely correct associations . Another word - tributes - evokes undesirable associations for me - either with tribunes, or with attributes... And this word means “offering, tribute, gift”. But having tried this and that, I decided that the reader was accustomed to such a name and replacing it would only be a fool’s errand.
