The action of Nikolai Svechin’s novel “The Ural Echo” takes place in the summer of 1913: a detective police supervisor went missing in St. Petersburg. Lykov and his assistant Avestopulo urgently went to the capital of the Urals, Yekaterinburg, where they managed to uncover a scheme for theft of precious metals, arrest Platov and defeat the local Socialist Revolutionaries. But they did not at all expect that they themselves would be drawn into a criminal whirlpool...
