The fifth, additional volume to the Collected Works of Mikhail Zhvanetsky is not limited, like the four previous ones (“Sixties”, “Seventies”, “Eighties”, “Nineties”), to one decade, but claims to be more - “Twenty-First Century”. The claim is justified: with the new century, Zhvanetsky overcame perhaps the most difficult pass - his own incredible, almost folkloric tape-television fame. His previous texts, all in all, are remembered by ear, begging to be spoken. For the first time, the reader of Zhvanetsky will have to not hear, but actually read, most of the monologues of the new century. With a pause, with an arrangement, with a return to the top of the page... With an understanding of what a wise and deep person he is, what a great Russian writer of the twenty-first century.
