These notes do not teach how to get to know the outstanding thinker of the 18th century, the manipulative old man Skovoroda - that everyone’s personal business is simply a desire to share their thoughts with the admirers of Grigory Savich. 200 years have passed since Skovoroda’s ideas began an independent life among Ukrainian fellow countrymen. One can have an idea of the paths of Fryingryoninov’s thought only by the number of his treatises copied by hand. The painstaking work of local historians began only in our time. But scientific work does not obscure the need for living evidence and people’s judgments. A person should not be left alone with his thoughts, especially if these thoughts are about the soul specialist Skovoroda. For Skovoroda, first of all, is a teacher of “gayness of the heart” and has guided life with this. Grigory Savvich had a circle of like-minded students with whom he shared his innermost thoughts and to whom he addressed his treatises. “I will be very glad if this book only serves to banish a few days of boredom, but how pleased I am if it helps even a little bit of inner peace.” Skovoroda wrote his treatises for friends and he was not indifferent to what hands they fell into; and now, more than two centuries later, his circle of friends has grown a thousandfold to the scale of the whole of Ukraine and Russia.
