The novel is a direct continuation of the previous novel “Cobra's Tooth”. Its heroes are also employees of the Earth Security Systems. The action takes place both on Earth itself and in one of the space colonies of the Brotherhood of Labor, where people are actively exploring an alien planet with living conditions very similar to those on Earth. Community intelligence services sent several agents here to collect data and prepare for the upcoming military expansion. But Earth’s counterintelligence becomes aware of the activities of these agents, and the leadership of the Security Systems is developing an operation to neutralize them, the implementation of which is entrusted to the two main characters of the novel. One of them arrives at this colony under the guise of the head of the Biological Defense, the other, remaining on Earth, plays a dangerous and complex game with one of the enemy agents in a special training camp for recruits for the space colony. Both investigations follow a parallel narrative. Gradually, the hero, who finds himself in the world of an alien planet, begins to understand that in addition to the traces of the presence here of someone hostile to the earth’s settlers, but, undoubtedly, also a person, he and his comrades are faced with the manifestation of something unknown and incomprehensible and this may soon radically change the life of all humanity.
