The Encyclopedia by Richard Ernest and Trevor Nevitt Dupuis is a comprehensive reference work charting the evolution of the art of war from Antiquity to the present day. A wealth of material is collected and systematized in one volume: a colossal volume of archival documents, rare maps, statistical data summaries, excerpts from scientific works and detailed descriptions of the greatest battles. For ease of use of the encyclopedia, the history of mankind is conventionally divided into twenty-two chapters, each of which is devoted to a time period from the 4th millennium BC to the end of the 20th century.
