First published in the magazine “Around the World” (1962, No. 5). It was included in the first collection of stories and stories “Light the fires in the ocean” (Magadan, 1964). Subsequently, the documentary part of this story was used by the author when writing the story “Two Colors of the Earth Between Two Oceans”, “Diary of Coastal Voyage” (chapter “Silver Mountain”) and the story “Mountain of Pure Silver”, published posthumously in the almanac “Wind of Wanderings” , 1975, N2 10. In its original form it was included only in “Favorites” (in three volumes) (Magadan, Book Publishing House, 1994). The heroes of the story, young guys, were looking for Pilhuerti-Neika, which translated from Chukchi means “mysteriously non-melting soft mountain”, almost entirely, as legend claims, consisting of native silver. The story aroused sharp criticism after publication, and was not republished until very recently. Included in the publication Kuvaev O. Works in 3 volumes, volume 2, 2005.
