Armored trains, which first appeared during the Anglo-Boer War of 1899–1902, were considered the “miracle weapon” of the first third of the 20th century. Their fate was short but stormy: two world wars, a civil war in Russia, numerous local conflicts in different parts of the world. This book tells about the history of the creation of the first armored trains, the further development of their designs and weapons, and the tactics of combat use. For the first time in Russian literature, armored trains of the Russian White movement, Germany, Poland, Japan and a number of other countries were examined. Little-known facts about Soviet armored trains from the era of confrontation with the PRC are presented. The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of military equipment and military affairs.
