Particular attention is paid to the personal relationships of military personnel. The novel contains friendship, betrayal, love, jokes, and reflections of the hero, which allow him to preserve human qualities even in very difficult situations. The image of Valera is collective, but not without autobiographical details. Unremarkable at first glance, the young man is strong in spirit and body, sensitive in soul, and unshakable in his principles. He is inclined to creativity, loyal to his homeland, wife, colleagues, and his favorite work. This is how he was raised by his loving parents. His children will most likely grow up like this.
