During the New Year holidays of 2007, former police major Artur Turaev meets with his old friend, diplomat Lev Raynikov. He asks to help him fulfill the request of the missing Vyacheslav Voronovich - to make public an extensive “dossier” on two police generals, one of whom is Turaev’s immediate superior. Currently, Turaev is working at a gas station after being released from prison. The last thing he wants is to get involved in dubious and dangerous matters, but he cannot refuse his friend. The Vasilenko brothers “protect” criminal gangs - not only in Russia, but in the CIS and abroad. Voronovich had recently communicated a lot with the leader of one of them, and therefore knew a lot. Fearing that he will be destroyed because of this, Voronovich plays ahead and “leaks” dirt on the boss and his “red” patrons. “Werewolves in uniform” and bandits find out about the dossier and start hunting for him. They use all available possibilities, not disdaining either blackmail, slander, or violence. Arthur's life literally hangs by a thread. He is looking for associates and assistants, without whom it is impossible to work. And the main ones are the stepson of the murdered Lev Raynikov, Stefan, as well as his widow, a professional intelligence officer, the Swede Sibylla. Both sides are irreconcilable. A “war without rules” begins. It is possible to “drive an aspen stake” into the graves of the “werewolves”, but victory comes at a high price...
