The book you are holding in your hands is dedicated to the sexual culture of the Japanese - a topic that has long caused conflicting emotions in the Western world. It is based on the work “Naked Japan. The erotic tradition of the Land of the Solar Root”, written by Alexander Kulanov in 2004, which was repeatedly refined and supplemented. Over time, readers' interest in the topic has not waned, but many aspects associated with the modern tradition of sex in Japan have undergone strong, sometimes unexpected changes. That’s why it’s time to look behind the screen of the Japanese bedroom again. The presented publication is not a cultural, psychological, ethnographic or any other study, although the author received an offer to format it as a dissertation on the topic “Genesis and transformation of the sexual culture of Japan.” This is, first of all, an attempt to understand why this country develops in matters of erotica and sex in this particular way and not otherwise, to understand why its people behave in intimate matters in this way and not in any other way. And, of course, think about what awaits all of us in the near future.
