The circulation of my latest book, “Letter to the Chancellor,” sold out in six months. The publishing house called and offered to do additional printing. I thought about it and refused. The goal had been achieved by that time - the “Letter” had reached the chancellor, and there was no point in sending a copy. I admit, I couldn’t even imagine that my book would end up in Angela Merkel’s personal library. But in December 2009, I suddenly received an official paper with watermarks and a coat of arms in the upper left corner, signed by the responsible employee of the Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Matthias Schmidt, in which he notified that a copy of the “Letter to the Chancellor” “is in the personal library of Dr. Angela Merkel "Very surprised and, to be honest, proud, I (in writing) thanked him for the good news and the attention he showed me, but I didn’t ask whether Madam Chancellor had read the book or put it off until better times, that is, until retirement. And then I sat down. and wrote a sequel to “Letters.” More precisely, the end, since I decided not to return to the topic of Russian Germans and the fate of this people, the difficult, sometimes tragic relations between Germany and Russia. Everything I wanted and had to say about this, I have now said. As for the title of the book, heaven is not necessarily a paradise and all righteous people. He's different. And most importantly, everyone has their own. My paradise is Germany. I’m talking about life there.
