Twenty-two-year-old Giorgio is a model student. He devotes all his days to preparing for final exams at law school, his evenings to his regular girlfriend Julia and modest friendly parties. On one of them, he unexpectedly rescues a guy he barely knows, Francesco, from a serious scrape... and thanks to him, he discovers a completely different life and a completely different self - a cynical womanizer and a professional gambler, mercilessly gutting unsuspecting simpletons. Giorgio himself is horrified by who he has become, but he can no longer help himself: he has fallen under the influence of a new friend, a strange and extraordinary man. Similar contradictions are tearing apart his namesake and almost peer - a Carabinieri lieutenant, unsuccessfully trying to get on the trail of a maniac rapist. During the day, he bravely pulls the burden, but all night long he suffers from insomnia, trying to drive away the difficult memories of his childhood. The meeting of the heroes is inevitable, because for both of them the past is a foreign land, where everything is different. But after this meeting, the future will also be different.
