Of all the stories that Osho Rajneesh told his disciples over the years, this is, without a doubt, one of the most beloved: “I told you a story, a very ancient story, about how a lioness gave birth to a lion cub while jumping from one steep to another. A newborn lion cub fell next to a flock of sheep and grew up among them. He had no way of knowing that he was not a sheep. And the sheep, in turn, were not afraid of him at all, because they did not know that he could be dangerous. One day the old lion saw all this and simply could not believe his eyes! He had never seen a lion walking among a flock of sheep. When they see a lion, sheep always run away. It `s naturally. But that young lion was sure that he was a sheep. The old lion was a man like Josh. He grabbed the young lion, and he trembled with fear. The old lion said: “Idiot! You tremble, whine and beg me to let you go, you so want to join your sheep. But there is something you don't know about, something you don't even suspect, and I won't leave until I open your eyes. Follow me!” He dragged the young lion to a nearby lake. There was complete calm on the lake - no ripples, no wind. Having dragged the young lion to the water itself, the old man said: “Look into the water. Look at my reflection and compare it with yours.” At the same moment, a roar burst from the chest of the young lion. It happened on its own; he simply realized that he too was a lion; and his roar immediately echoed in the distant mountains. The young lion thanked the old one and said: “You have been very kind to me. If it weren't for you, I would have continued to eat grass and sheep all my life. Thanks to you, I was born again.”
