Earthquakes, tsunamis and mudflows cause death and destruction. The inhabitants of a piece of land forgotten by the gods and authorities have lost hope. Even the cherry blossoms here don’t bloom in the spring, but lifelessly stretch black knotted branches to the sky... A physical education teacher named Tombo (Dragonfly) is lonely: his daughter was carried away by a wave, his wife is silently dying in her bed. But he is still young, his body yearns for hugs, his heart for love, and his soul for joy. Tombo spends his days in melancholy and sadness. But one day he comprehends a simple truth: a person is worth something only if, having rejected the sin of despondency, he chooses life with all its problems, despite any external circumstances.
