Jack Finney (1911–1995) is a famous American science fiction writer. Most of his stories and novellas, like the novel “Between Two Times,” written in 1970, are devoted to time and travel to other eras. The writer’s main work, “Between Two Worlds,” has gone through a huge number of reprints in almost all languages of the world. The author managed to describe New York a hundred years ago with great accuracy and attention to detail, with the most precise “reference to the location.” Finney also successfully worked in other genres: detective stories, thrillers. Invasion of the Body Snatchers, a novel about sinister aliens, also became legendary and was filmed several times. And one of Finney’s stories even served as the basis for a New York urban legend. The story of a man shot down in Times Square and found in his pockets containing a letter from 1876 quickly spread and was cited in hundreds of books and articles as evidence of the reality of time travel.
