John Stuart Mill can safely be called one of the first feminists who were not afraid to declare to England in the 19th century about the “legal subordination of one sex to the other”: in 1869, his book “On the Subjection of Woman” was published. However, three people participated in the creation of this work: Mill's wife Harriet Taylor-Mille, her daughter Helen Taylor and John Stewart himself. Harriet Taylor-Mill, an English feminist, wrote on social and philosophical topics; it was her ideas that formed the basis of the book “On the Subjection of Woman.” However, only John Stewart's name is on the cover. Perhaps they, along with their wife and stepdaughter, believed that the thoughts of a feminist philosopher would be listened to rather than the arguments of women. Almost 150 years later, many of the authors’ ideas have not lost their relevance; they remain interesting and in demand in the society of the 21st century. This publication is equipped with an introductory article by Olgerta Kharitonova, candidate of philosophical sciences, curator of the School of Feminism. The publishing layout is saved in a4.pdf format.
