Mid 19th century. The spouses Anita and Alex left Russia to travel around Europe, and there is turmoil there: in Berlin, where they stayed, a revolution is brewing. A new acquaintance, Velgunov, tells Anita about this over a glass of wine in a restaurant. He points her to a colorful couple - the famous writer Heloise de Pierre and her fiancé, the wealthy manufacturer Liebig - and immediately after this he suddenly dies. Anita does not believe that Velgunov died from a heart attack, so she is persistent, seeking the most complete examination from the police. And it turns out she’s right: Velgunov was poisoned. After this, Anita receives a surprise visit from Héloïse de Pierre. She asks Anita about her relationship with Velgunov, which raises suspicions that this mysterious and dangerous story is just beginning...

Аніта та Алекс - це не просто герої, а справжні дослідники людських стосунків, які виявляють, що навіть у найспокійніші моменти можуть ховатися таємниці, здатні змінити все. Сюжет насичений несподіваними поворотами, а загадка смерті Вельгунова тримає в напрузі до самого кінця. Автор майстерно описує емоції персонажів, їх переживання та страхи, що робить їх близькими та зрозумілими. Я особисто була вражена глибиною теми і тим, як історія розкриває не лише події, а й внутрішній світ героїв. Рекомендую всім, хто любить детективи з історичним контекстом і глибокими персонажами!
