Mid 19th century. The spouses Anita and Alex left Russia to travel around Europe, and there is turmoil there: in Berlin, where they stayed, a revolution is brewing. A new acquaintance, Velgunov, tells Anita about this over a glass of wine in a restaurant. He points her to a colorful couple - the famous writer Heloise de Pierre and her fiancé, the wealthy manufacturer Liebig - and immediately after this he suddenly dies. Anita does not believe that Velgunov died from a heart attack, so she is persistent, seeking the most complete examination from the police. And it turns out she’s right: Velgunov was poisoned.
