“The Time of the Shepherd” tells the story of a genius linguist, priest of the Lunino Boris and Gleb Church Platon Maksimovich Tikhonovich, who in the second half of the 19th century took a step towards the Belarusian language as a native language for citizens of the so-called North-Western region of the Russian Empire. The author, using little-known and previously unknown facts, shows what a highly spiritual personality this hardworking Niva of Christ was, who was awarded for his services to public education with the Order of St. Anne of the 3rd degree, a golden pectoral cross and many other awards. In the novel, based on documentary evidence, shows the enormous contribution that the Orthodox clergy of the 19th century made to the development of education, culture, and spiritual morality of the people of the modern territory of Belarus.
