Japu ji or the morning prayer of the Sikhs opens the introductory, liturgical part of the Sikh scripture “Adi Granth”. It belongs to Nanak himself - the founder of Sikhism - and is a relatively small but sufficient work to reveal the features of Sikh religious, philosophical and religious thought. The Adi Granth was not translated into Russian, either in whole or in part, which prompted the translator to work with old Sikh texts. It is generally accepted that the Holy Book was compiled in 1603–1604. the fifth Guru is Guru Arjan. The idea of its creation is explained by the Sikh tradition by the abundance of counterfeit poems under the name of Nanak, although it includes poems from earlier bhaktic poets, as well as added works by subsequent Gurus.
