Alexander Alexandrovich Genis (born February 11, 1953, Ryazan) is a Russian American writer, essayist, literary critic, critic, radio host. Alexander Genis was born in Ryazan and grew up in Riga. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the University of Latvia. In 1977 he emigrated to the USA, lives in New Jersey. For more than twenty years, Alexander Genis has been working at Radio Liberty, where he hosts the program “American Hour”; in Novaya Gazeta, collaborates with a number of online and print periodicals. Genis is the author and host of the television series “Letters from America.” For many years, he published in tandem with journalist Peter Weil. Fruitfully collaborates with Russian-language media in Russia and America: Radio Culture, TV channel Culture, worked in the emigrant newspaper New American, published by Sergei Dovlatov. Alexander Genis is a member of the editorial board Council of the journal "Foreign Literature".
