The memoir volume of Alexander Genis combines two very different books under one cover. Although in both the readers will encounter familiar characters and material, the texts differ radically in manner. If the cycle of stories “Knitwear”, built around the author’s life, is dense lyrical prose with theological nuances, then “Return Address” remains within the honest framework of non-fiction and can serve as a key (down to the photographs of the characters) to the first book. This counterpoint defamiliarizes the traditional memoir genre and makes it new and original. The publishing layout of the book is preserved in PDF A4 format.
