The “Translation Liberties” section opens with a fairly extensive selection of poems by the French poet Fastin La Marmelle (1842–1892), a fantastic loser and wretched man, who spent his entire life collecting refusals from a myriad of magazines and almanacs, according to the translator and author of the introduction and notes Valery Kislov . Precisely “if you believe”, because the poems themselves suspiciously look like a common innovation of the early twentieth century... However, such a joke would be quite appropriate in the current April (!) issue of IL.
