Life didn't work out. Perhaps this will be the most accurate description of the drama of the main character of the play, already middle-aged, seventy-six years old, Elsa. Born in Samara, in a family of Russian Germans. Her father was repressed, she and her mother and sister were exiled. Her sister died during exile, and Elsa ended up in an orphanage, from where her mother was able to pick her up only after the war. Then a long unhappy marriage, life as if in captivity. And now we see the heroine having just recently buried her husband. For many years she dreamed that someday she would become happy. And then, walking with a stroller in which her great-granddaughter lies, she meets Vasily Ignatievich, and her life changes dramatically.
