The main characters are not politicians, not soldiers, not philosophers. The main characters are children who remembered the brightest and most tragic moments of that war. Not the events themselves, but what they felt. “I remember mom. When they were leading her to be shot, she asked: “Take your daughter away... Close your daughter’s eyes...”, recalls one of the heroines.” But I didn’t cry when the bomb fell, I stamped my foot and said: “I will live!” I will live!". And these childhood memories, defenseless, reveal to the core and expose “human madness in the form of war.”
On a torn path stands a boy of about five, In his wide eyes there is languor, And his cheeks are white as chalk. - Where is your mother, boy? - At home. - Where is your house, son? - Burnt down. He sat down. He gets snowed in. The light in his eyes dims. He won’t even ask for bread. He also knows: there is no bread!
