The book “Comedy/Tragedy” includes two plays by Boris Akunin. "Tragedy" is a development of the plot motifs of "Hamlet". In order to study human nature, Horace von Dorn (Fandorin's ancestor) arrives from his native Germany to Danish Elsinore. His old friend, a fat student, is playing the fool after his father died in the garden and his mother married his uncle. Preserving the plot and individual remarks of the characters (“To be or not to be,” “Remember me, Ophelia, oh nymph,” “Then is silence”), Akunin presented the characters in the form of cardboard puppets of a puppet theater bleeding cranberry juice. Reading this book by B. Akunin, we find ourselves not so much in the space of Shakespeare, Chekhov, Dostoevsky, but in the space of an anecdote about world literature.
