The Great Elder of Optina Monastery, Hieroschemamonk Ambrose, was the first of the host of venerable fathers and elders of Optina to be canonized for all-Russian veneration - at the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church on June 6–9, 1988: “Elder Ambrose was canonized for the holiness of life and the virtues she revealed: humility, concern for others, insight and miracles. The basis is also the continuous veneration of him by the church people, who honor their elder as a great ascetic who has great boldness before God.” The reproduced work of Archpriest Sergius Chetverikov was the last biography of the Monk Ambrose, published by the “old” Optina, ― on the 100th anniversary of the birth of the blessed one old man.
