Guy Debord (1931–1994) was a French art theorist, avant-garde artist, philosopher, writer and film director, founder of the Situationist International. This book presents his seminal works The Society of the Spectacle (1967) and Commentaries on the Society of the Spectacle (1988).The “society of the spectacle” is a metaphor for a world in which direct contact with reality has been lost: “everything that was previously experienced directly is now withdrawn into performance.” The work is devoted to the analysis and criticism of both the Western capitalist system - the “society of dispersed spectacle”, and the Soviet authoritarian system - the “society of concentrated spectacle”. “Comments” presents a society of integrated performance, which includes both totalitarian control and the dictates of a consumer society. The publishing design is preserved in PDF A4 format.
