The story is included in the anthology “The Varangian Prisoner”. The only manuscript of the Erling Saga was found in 1989 during archaeological excavations of a Norman settlement at Cape Herjolvsnes (southern Greenland). The manuscript presumably dates back to the end of the 15th century.
