The incident that prompted cousins Evgeniy Voiskunsky and Isai Lukodyanov to collaborate was an ordinary, one might even say, an ordinary traffic accident. This is how “The Crew of the Mekong” appeared and Ur, the son of Sham, who continued the first novel and composed the Dilogy “Institute of Marine Physics”. The magnificent irony of the co-authors, the romantic fascination with the sea, the ability to speak the language of the era in which the heroes live, and the abundance of entertaining facts from the history of science were preserved in the later books of Voiskunsky and Lukodyanov. Science fiction books were published especially abundantly during the years of relative freedom—the “thaw” 1960s.
